Barokkanerne Norwegian Baroque Ensemble, based in Oslo, is a result of a merge between Barokkanerne and Norwegian Baroque Orchestra. Both ensembles made their debuts in the late 1980s and have since been leading early music ensembles in Norway. They have appeared at numerous festivals throughout Europe, in recent years at Tage Alter Musik Regensburg, Stockholm Early Music Festival and Bergen International Music Festival. The ensemble is now a part of a classical concert series in Oslo which also includes the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and Oslo Quartet Series.

The merged ensembles have both been involved in a number of productions for Norwegian Radio and Television (NRK) and their collective CD-productions are numerous: Barokkanerne has focused on promoting Norwegian young soloists, as in Empfindsamkeit! (LAWO Classics, 2012) featuring concertos and symphonies of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, led by baroque oboist Alfredo Bernardini and with Christian Kjos as harpsichord soloist. Totally Telemann (LAWO Classics, 2014), with orchestral music of Georg Philipp Telemann, Kati Debretzeni as baroque violin soloist and artistic director, and soloists Alfredo Bernardini, baroque oboe, Torun Kirby Torbo, flute, and Ingeborg Christophersen, recorder. Recordare Venezia (LAWO Classics, 2017), also featuring Ingeborg Christophersen as a recorder soloist in baroque music from Venice, and Er heißet Wunderbar (LAWO Classics, 2018) which comprises works by the four composers competing for the function of cantor of the St. Thomas church in Leipzig, Telemann, Graupner, Fasch and Bach. Norwegian Baroque Orchestra’s catalogue lists several acclaimed recordings of music written in Norway.

Barokkanerne collaborates regularly with outstanding international performers as guest leaders and soloists. The unique contributions of musicians such as Kati Debretzeni, Andrew Lawrence- King, Alfredo Bernardini, Carlos Mena and Kristian Bezuidenhout, are genuinely appreciated by the ensemble and audiences alike.
